I am so excited to be the music teacher at Gifford Grade School this year! I look forward to getting to know all of the students and families as the year goes on. I'd like to introduce myself and let you know a bit more about my background. I have been married to my husband for twelve years and we have two boys. Colin is 10 and in 4th grade and Caleb is 6 starting Kindergarten. (I'm hoping I don't cry this year when he goes off to school!) We moved to central Illinois in the spring of 2015 after spending my life in Chicago and its suburbs. It has been an adjustment, but a good one! We've enjoyed camping and exploring the area this summer. I began my career teaching general music, band and chorus in the Chicago Public Schools for four years, I worked in Naperville School District 204 for eleven years and part time at a preschool for three years when my boys were younger. I have taught birth through 5th grade general music and band. I have also taught at North Central College in Naperville and Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington. I was an oboist in college and starting singing a bit more after college so that I could better teach K-5. I have been part of The Choral Aires, a barbershop chorus, for twenty years. Please stop by to say hi or to let me know if you have any questions about the music program this year! You can reach me at [email protected].
